Rootbeer

Thus I am back from the school trip. Actually that was yesterday.

So, as promised I shall update you of most the happenings during the three-day conference.

In detail? I can't promise you that. Well anyway.

There are different journalism events. 90% of them are individual contests, such as editorial writing, feature writing, and editorial cartooning. Each school garner points whenever they get in the top 7 for an individual event. Then, the points are added up to determine the winning schools.

Our school was the first runner-up among around ten (I'm not really sure) schools. Look at that!

So how about broadcasting. the event I joined as audio-man?

Broadcasting is a team event. It didn't affect a school's over-all rank. However, winning team events brings glory for the respective school also.

There are individual categories that are observed during broadcasting, namely: the script, reporting, the informercial (which is basically a commercial advertising an advocacy, instead of a product) and the audio.

Each school is ranked in every category. Then, the points are added up to determine the overall rank for every school.

The results? We were 3rd in reporting and 2nd in script-writing. We didn't reach the top 3 for audio and informercial.

This depressed me, too much. Both categories concerns me, since I am in charge for both. And both didn't win.

Until, someone told me that my audio was actually 4th, losing to the 3rd by .5 points. And my informercial was 5th.

Sayang!

Over-all, we won 3rd runner-up for broadcasting. Fair enough, I should say. I was a beginner in my field and I suppose this is quite an achievement.

to be continued
